Surf - Portheras Cove - Cornwall

The light can make all the difference to how the sea looks, but each time I've been to Portheras Cove there's been a vitality in the water that sets it apart from other beaches in the area - also a relative lack of people.

The day I took these photos was after fairly but not especially stormy weather so the waves were a good size, with the light coming from the left.

Portheras Cove is a surpisingly long and circuitous walk from Pendeen Lighthouse but is worth the effort. It's not really a surfing beach as it slopes steeply which makes it quieter.
